Perhaps best known for its racecourse which hosts Royal Ascot every June, it’s located between Windsor and Bracknell and is effectively split into North & South Ascot as well as taking in Sunninghill. It’s also home to a number of popular independent schools.

Commute

Ascot has its own station with trains to London Waterloo running regularly and taking just under an hour. The M3 can be accessed by heading South on the A322.

Schools

There is an independent girls school called St. Georges School (different from the one in Windsor) as well as a girls secondary called St. Marys. Papplewick is a boys independent prep school and there is also, The Marist, a girls Catholic school in Sunninghill and finally LVS, a co-educational boarding school to name but a few.

Amenities

Ascot main high street contains the majority of shops in the area, a mixture of high street brands such as Boots and Costa and a number of independent retailers. Notable places to eat and drink would include Fego, Stag Pub, La Sorrentina, Dog & Partridge and the slightly more rural, The Thatched Tavern. There is a Tesco and Sainsburys on the high street, although these are smaller, more “local” versions with most residents opting to drive to the Waitrose in Sunningdale for larger food shops.

Leisure

Ascot racecourse throughout the year holds a number of race meets in additional to Royal Ascot in June and there is also the choice of either Royal Ascot and Mill Ride golf clubs.  Coworth Park, a luxury hotel and spa is nearby and the Virginia Water lake is a popular site to visit for walks.
